Fluffy Force Commander: how to play, tips and FAQ

Written by the GAMEFREEX team.

Fluffy Force Commander is a real-time strategy game in 3D on a toy-like island: pastel grass in a checkerboard, lollipop trees, a soft sea all around. You build a base, gather three resources, train an army of animals and pop the other side's headquarters. Nothing bleeds here. A unit that loses its last hit point bursts into confetti and stars, and a building goes up in a cloud of it.

The army has nine kinds of units in three classes. Infantry comes from the Barracks (hamster troopers, bunny medics, hedgehog grenadiers), vehicles from the Garage (jelly tanks, pillow APCs, rocket karts), aircraft from the Airfield (duck copters, owl bombers, balloon scouts). Troopers and balloons shoot down aircraft, jelly tanks flatten infantry, and duck copters hunt vehicles, so the mix you train matters more than its size.

You lead with one of five commanders, from General Hamhock the hamster to Captain Whiskers the cat sniper. Each one gives a permanent bonus and an ability you trigger from the round portrait at the bottom left. The campaign has 12 missions against Baron Grumble and his gang, and between missions you can raid enemy bases for loot, fight the computer, duel a friend on one screen or play a live battle online.

How to play Fluffy Force Commander

  1. Select: click or tap a unit, drag a box with the mouse, or hold a finger on the map for a moment and then drag (the BOX button does the same on a phone). ARMY selects every unit you have. Double tap a unit to pick all of that kind on screen.
  2. Order: with units selected, tap the ground to move there, or tap an enemy to attack it. ATTACK, then a tap, is an attack move: the units fight whatever they meet on the way. On a computer, right click gives an order without changing the selection.
  3. Build: open BUILD, pick a building, then click where it goes (on a phone, tap to place the outline and press BUILD to confirm). It has to sit near your base, and mines and refineries only go on a honey deposit or a candy geyser.
  4. Train: tap a Barracks, Garage or Airfield and press a unit. Up to 5 wait in line. With the building selected, a tap on the map moves its rally point.
  5. Move the camera by dragging (or WASD and the arrow keys), zoom with a pinch or the mouse wheel, and tap the minimap to jump somewhere. F uses your commander ability, Q selects the army, H goes back to the HQ.

Who beats whom

Every unit deals more or less damage depending on what it shoots at. Hamster Troopers do 60% more to aircraft and Balloon Scouts 80% more, so a cheap squad of troopers is the answer to Duck Copters. Jelly Tanks do 60% more to infantry and splash it, and Pillow APCs 30% more (when an APC pops, two troopers hop out). Duck Copters do 70% more to vehicles. Hedgehog Grenadiers, Rocket Karts and Owl Bombers are the building breakers, at 30%, 80% and 60% extra.

Defenses pick their targets the same way. A Plush Turret only fires at ground units and a Popcorn Flak only at aircraft, while the HQ has a small cannon that hits both. Marshmallow Walls do nothing but stand there with 600 health; your units only chew through one when it blocks their way, or when you tell them to.

Bunny Medics heal nearby infantry for 7 health a second and barely fight. Rocket Karts reach 7.6 cells, farther than a turret, but they cannot fire at anything closer than 2 cells, so they need a screen in front of them.

Economy and upgrades

The HQ trickles a little of each resource. The real income comes from Berry Farms (3 berries a second), Honey Mines (2 honey, on a golden deposit) and Candy Refineries (1.5 candy, on a pink geyser). A level 2 building makes 50% more, a level 3 one twice as much. The HQ stores 1,000 of each resource at level 1, 1,500 at level 2 and 2,000 at level 3, and each Cotton Barn adds 600 per level.

Only as many buildings go up at once as you have builders: one per HQ level, plus one with Engineer Clover. Anything you place beyond that waits in line with a scaffold around it. Buildings other than the HQ cannot go above the HQ level, and each level also adds 35% health. Production buildings train 25% faster per level and their units come out with 15% more health and damage.

Commanders

General Hamhock (from the start): infantry has 20% more health and trains 20% faster; Rally Cry makes your whole army fire 50% faster for 8 seconds, every 45 seconds. Engineer Clover (after mission 2): one more builder, faster construction and 10% more income; Quick Fix repairs every building by a third, every 60 seconds.

Colonel Biscuit (after mission 3): vehicles cost 15% less and drive 10% faster; Zoomies speeds up every unit by 70% for 7 seconds. Captain Bao (after mission 6): aircraft get 15% more health and damage; Bamboo Airstrike drops five bombs on the spot you pick. Captain Whiskers (after mission 9): everything reaches 15% farther; Purrfect Shot hits the enemy closest to your tap for 420 damage, every 35 seconds.

Tips to score higher

  • Build a second farm in the first minute. Berries pay for almost everything, and a farm pays for itself in about 33 seconds.
  • Upgrade the HQ as soon as you can afford it. Each level adds a builder, raises your storage and unlocks the next buildings (level 2 for the Garage, Popcorn Flak and Candy Refinery, level 3 for the Airfield and Bubble Shield).
  • Send units with an attack move rather than a plain move. A plain move walks past everything, which is how a squad gets popped by a turret it never shot at.
  • Turrets only hit ground units and Popcorn Flak only hits aircraft. A base with one kind of defense has a hole, yours and the Baron's alike.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering an attack on the enemy HQ while a turret shoots at you. Units with an explicit target ignore everything else: take the defenses out first, or use an attack move.
  • Sitting on resources at the cap. When a counter stops at its limit, the income is lost: build a Cotton Barn or spend it.
  • Forgetting air defense. One Popcorn Flak or a few troopers near the base keeps copters from picking your farms apart.
  • Leaving the Rocket Karts alone at the front. Anything that walks up to them wins, since they cannot fire at close range.

Fluffy Force Commander FAQ

How do stars work in the campaign?+

One for winning the mission, one for winning under its time target (5 minutes for the first mission, up to 20 for the last), and one for losing no more units than the mission allows. Clearing a mission opens the next one, and some of them unlock a commander or a building.

What is a raid?+

A 4-minute attack on an enemy base built from a random seed. You get a camp with the production buildings you have unlocked and a budget to train an army, and every building you pop counts toward a destruction percentage and drops loot. Popping 35% of the base raises the raid level, and the loot goes into a war chest that buys Academy upgrades.

Can I play against a friend?+

Yes, three ways. Duel in the game menu puts two players on one screen in turns of 30 seconds. Online, Quick match finds another player and With friends opens a room you can share: both are live 1v1 battles on a mirrored island. A party on one device has each player raid the same base, best score wins.

How do I earn Freex Coins?+

From your score at the end of a battle, like every game, plus up to 20 more for the battle itself: stars in the campaign, the destruction percentage in a raid, a win in a skirmish or online.
