Shadow Freex: Complete Survival Guide

Master the dungeon crawler. Weapon rankings, boss patterns, gold optimization, and the strategies that get players past wave 20.

What Is Shadow Freex?

Shadow Freex is a top-down dungeon crawler where you explore darkness with a torch, fight waves of demons, collect weapons and gold, and survive as long as possible. A boss appears every 60 seconds. It's the most intense game on GAMEFREEX and the one players ask about most.

The First 60 Seconds

Your priority in the first minute is simple: find a weapon upgrade and collect enough gold to survive the first boss. Move constantly — standing still lets demons surround you. The torch reveals a small area around you, so always be pushing into new territory.

Weapon Rankings

Not all weapons are equal. Here's the tier list based on damage output and utility:

  • S-Tier: Crossbow (range + damage), Magic Staff (area damage)
  • A-Tier: Sword (fast, reliable), Throwing Axes (piercing)
  • B-Tier: Dagger (fast but short range), Mace (slow but powerful)
  • C-Tier: Starting fists (replace ASAP)

The crossbow is the best weapon in the game because it lets you damage enemies before they reach you. If you find one early, your run is off to a great start.

Boss Patterns

The boss spawns every 60 seconds and gets stronger each time. Key patterns:

  • Boss 1 (60s): Charges straight at you. Easy to dodge — just sidestep and attack from the side.
  • Boss 2 (120s): Spawns minions while attacking. Clear minions first or they'll overwhelm you.
  • Boss 3+ (180s+): Faster, more HP, more minions. You need a ranged weapon and constant movement to survive.

Gold Optimization

Gold drops from enemies and is scattered around the map. The smart play is to create "kill zones" — areas where you circle back through your own path, picking up gold from previously killed demons. Don't chase gold into unexplored dark areas unless you're confident you can handle what's there.

Survival Tips for Wave 20+

  • Keep moving in circles: Large circular paths let you kite enemies and avoid getting cornered.
  • Save health pickups: Don't grab a health pickup at 90% HP. Remember where it is and come back when you actually need it.
  • Prioritize ranged enemies: Melee demons are predictable. Ranged attackers can hit you while you're dealing with the horde.
  • Use the edges: The map edges give you one less direction to worry about. Circle along the perimeter when things get chaotic.
